This episode was another good one and it should hold us over for some of the bad ones that I'm sure are going to come up sooner then later. They definitely did a great job of testing our heroes, but you just kind of expect a little more from three guys, but then again there were a lot of dummies to control, so we can buy that it takes three to control them all. Great animation and a good storyline, the only bad thing about the episode, that I can think of was that the villains were a bit weak character-wise. It's also kind of sad though, because it almost seems as if the creators know which episodes are bad and which are good, which would lead me to assume that the bad episodes we've seen are on purpose. The animation has been uneven through out these filler episodes, so it's good to see that the animation is top notch on a good episode. The episode was animated very well, which just added points to what was already a good episode. It also felt like we got a little bit more Ten-Ten then we usually do too, so the writer's distributed the time among the three very well. Even though they remain the focus, Naruto, Ten-Ten, and Neji got a good amount of time. The writers did a great job with this episode and once again kept the focus on Rock Lee and Gai. The brothers have some bruises and it wasn't clear where they were from seeing as how they never got into direct contact, but we'll assume it was from their structure falling on them. Rock Lee and Gai both escapes out of the castle along with the brothers. The power that they're using is too much for the wooden dummies to take thus causing the dummies to break and the chakra connection to on the brothers to break. Through communicating the two realize what they have to do and they both open their chakra gates to level 5. The idea of using Morse code was another surprise that I didn't see coming, but it worked perfectly within the episode and came off as being very believable, because of course a ninja would have to learn some way to communicate if they're unable to speak. Gai discovered first, which made perfect sense since he is Lee's mentor, but it's not long that Lee discovers the same thing. The pace at which the two discovered they were fighting each other was perfect. It's a pretty good trick and one of the best ones we've seen on the show in general. At first it looked like Gai and Lee were facing individual training dummies in separate fights, but it becomes clear that the brothers have made it now where Gai and Lee are both fighting each other. The brothers lure Lee into the structure where Gai is being held and Lee runs into another training dummy. The team has a pretty hard time getting through all of them and that's mostly what they end up doing the whole episode. Training dummies being potential opponents sounds like a really bad plot, but the writers make it work really well here by giving good explanations of how they're able to move and everything. Neji, using his Byakugan, notices that the dummies are being controlled using a seal and then later realized that some of them were being controlled by Yagara's jutsu (for this review I'll refer to him as Yagara). Naruto underestimates how strong the dummies actually are though and ends up paying the price for it. The team comes face to face with the training dummies themselves. With Gai trapped, the cavalry comes to save him in the form of Naruto, Ten-Ten, and Neji. In the last episode Gai took on training dummies that were far from normal and by the end of the episode he was trapped inside of a house constructed from the pieces of the wooden dummies. Gai had a run-in with the brother's father years ago and defeated him and the brothers are avenging their father's death, because they think he died in despair over being beaten. The scenes didn't make any sense until it's revealed that fake Yagara is really Genshou, the oldest of his three brothers, Rokkaku and Jako also known as the Ryuudoin. He'll do whatever he can to keep them there even if it means murder. The black and white flashback in the beginning of the episode was cool. So he comes up with an unprecedented solution for his problems.Ī story in which Minato is a sociopath that decides that he wants more children under his roof no matter what. He can't stand to see either of his sons go. He and Kakashi are known as eternal rivals, gaiis in the lead with 50 wins to 49 losses. Like Lee, he is a specialist in hand-to-hand combat or taijutsu, but unlike Lee, he can use ninjutsu or genjutsu.
